Non-residents are subject to the Non-Resident Income Tax (IRNR) on income earned within Spanish territory, such as rental income, capital gains from the sale of property, or dividends. They may also be subject to the Wealth Tax if they own assets located in Spain.

Yes. Individuals who are tax residents in Spain must file Form 720 if they hold assets or rights abroad valued at more than €50,000. Failure to submit this form may result in significant penalties, so proper legal advice is highly recommended.

This regime allows workers relocated to Spain to be taxed only on income earned within Spanish territory, applying a reduced fixed tax rate during the first years of tax residency. It is a beneficial option for expatriates and qualified professionals.

This tax applies to the net value of an individual’s personal assets as of December 31 each year. There are tax-free thresholds, regional reductions, and progressive tax brackets. A tax lawyer can help you plan and legally reduce its impact.
